Candidates for Sustainability, Equity, & Recreation — A Slate for the Future of Washington Grove
How I am voting in this crucial election.
Darrell Anderson
I suppose I need hardly explain why Darrell deserves our support. Darrell’s service to our Town has been exemplary, including three terms as mayor and years of service on the council. Darrell has devoted countless hours to the Town and has always put the Town’s interests ahead of his own. His voice and vote during council meetings always deftly navigate our need for progress with our desire to maintain the Town’s historic character. He brings intelligence and a crucial historical perspective to his service on the council and I am grateful that he is willing to continue to serve.
Eva Patrone
Eva is a “new comer” to the Town, having moved here in 2018 to raise her young family. Eva is quite simply a “doer.” She was instrumental in getting the crosswalk at the commercial corner (for which I am grateful every time I cross Washington Grove Lane!) and as a member of the Shared-Use Path Task Force which completed its work earlier this year, she demonstrated that she was hard-working, thoughtful, open-minded, and fair. Eva will bring her clear voice to the council and am also sure that she will be collaborative and constructive, not combative and contentious, in the way that she interacts with citizens and fellow council members.
John Compton
Though he is unopposed, I’d like to say a word about John Compton who is running for reelection as mayor. John’s service and dedication to this Town is simply without parallel. He has advocated for and protected our Town while guiding us forward into the 21st Century. I have marveled at his patience time and time again and have admired the way he always bends over backward to allow those who disagree with him to have their say. He is tolerant, even welcoming of dissent in a way that speaks to the highest ideals of democracy. John has been truly selfless in his service to Washington Grove and is more than worthy of our affirmation vote.
I hope that you will consider supporting this slate of candidates as well. I know that they will do a fantastic job for us in the coming year and years.
All the best,
Dennis
